Luis Gomez Pena

Dr. Pena is originally from Cuba and has lived in Bolivia for eight years. He has been a physician since 1992. In 1998 he obtained the specialization in Internal Medicine. He has practiced his profession both at the primary and secondary level of care and served as Director of an intermediate care room and Stroke Unit from 2008 to 2014. He successfully defended his master's thesis on Medical Emergencies in 2008. As part of his doctoral thesis in 2012, he designed a Predictive Score for the prevention of recurrences in patients with Symptomatic Atrial Fibrillation. In 2013, he obtained the title of Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the Universidad Franz Tamayo, Bolivia. He additionally has obtained the title of Specialist in Management Skills in 2018.

Currently, he is the director of the School of Medicine at the private University Franz Tamayo in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. He also teaches the subjects of research methodology, differentiated semiology, and pathophysiology II. He has remained active in the area of research, with numerous publications in national and international journals, as well as presentation of papers at local and regional scientific events. He actively tutors students interested in research, and is a member of student and intern evaluation boards in Bolivia.
